Rolling Bearing Life L10
Calculate nominal bearing service life per ISO 281 — for ball bearings and roller bearings.

Axial and radial load combined
Formula (ISO 281)
L10h = L10 × 10⁶ / (60 × n)
P = Equivalent load [N or kN]
p = 3 (ball bearing) | 10/3 (roller bearing)
n = Operating speed [min⁻¹]
L10 = Nom. service life [10⁶ revolutions]
L10h = Nom. service life [hours]
What Does L10 Mean?
L10 is the operating duration that 90% of a bearing series will exceed under identical conditions. Statistically, only 10% of bearings fail before reaching L10.
Note: This calculation provides the nominal L10 service life. The modified L10mh (per ISO 281 Annex 1) additionally accounts for lubrication conditions, contamination, and system parameters.
Notice: The calculation tools provided are intended for initial orientation only and do not replace binding engineering design by qualified specialists. All results must be verified by appropriate engineering calculations before use in safety-critical applications. Technische Antriebselemente GmbH accepts no liability for damages arising from the use of the calculation results.
